How Does
Ultraviolet Disinfection Work? |
UV
water treatment units comprise an
enclosed chamber with an inner sleeve of high purity quartz, which
contains a germicidal lamp. Water passes through the chamber and is
subjected to the UV-C light which shines through the quartz sleeve.
Short-wave ultra violet destroys the genetic
structure of micro-organisms, and bacteria or viruses in the water
exposed to the UV light are destroyed.
Ultraviolet light is one of the safest ways
to disinfect water since it does not use chemicals and therefore cannot

Performance and Quality |
|
The units are rated according to the UV transparency
of the water, flow rate and level of bacterial kill. They are designed to cope with bacterial problems
on well water supplies, providing they generally meet EEC water requirements. |

Installation is simple, and once fitted the
UV system requires no attention and only yearly maintenance. |

Filtration |
| It is
important that sediment in the water does not obstruct the UV
light. We strongly advise that a 5 micron filter is fitted
before the chamber to remove this contamination.
