What
are the components of a KDF Water Filter? |
|
The medium is a copper/zinc base, utilising one of the most
common reactions occurring in nature. It removes dissolved
gases such as chlorine, which is the main agent in
destroying the taste of the water.
KDF also removes virtually all soluble heavy metals, and
helps prevent mineral hardness scale accumulation, and
causes the destruction of micro organisms.

How
does it function? |
|
What
makes this media unique is that all the energy necessary to
remove contaminants from the water supply is inherent in the
electrochemical and catalytic potential.
Some water filter cartridges on the market use the poison silver to try and
keep the filters safe, but the KDF solution is the most
innovative and environmentally responsible solution to
today's challenging water treatment problems. It exchanges
heavy metals and chlorine in the water supply with copper
and zinc which are minerals which the body can use. Because
the filter is made up of copper and zinc, copper being the
cathode and zinc the anode there is a electrical difference
of 500 millibar this causes a cascade of cellular damage to any
bacteria or virus that might get through to the filter; not allowing any growth in the filters which is the main
problem in 99% of water filters on the market. This system
efficiently replaces unsafe water filter systems such as badly
used jug filters (not changing water filter cartridges often enough).

Chlorine is added to mains water to remove bacteria which
gives a very unpleasant smell and taste. you drink chlorine
every day in fluctuating amounts. Would you willingly drink
a glass of water if I put a drop of chlorine (bleach) into
it? Sliced bread keeps fresh because of the plastic
wrapping, and is removed prior to eating. Likewise
with chlorine is put into mains water to keep it safe.
Ideally it is best removed before drinking. KDF removes 99% of free chlorine making the water taste nice and
wholesome again.

Removal
of dissolved heavy metals |

Removes
up to 98% of water soluble cat ions of Lead, Mercury,
Copper, Nickel, Chromium, Cadmium, Arsenic, Antimony, Cobalt
and most other dissolved heavy metals upon contact. The
removal method is electrochemical and partially catalytic
(i.e. lead cat ions are reduced to insoluble lead atoms and
are electroplated onto the KDF media, and absorbed into the
granular media).
